Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad News of the Day: Adam “MCA” Yauch of the Beastie Boys announced today that he has been diagnosed with cancer of the salivary gland, and, subsequently, all upcoming tour dates have been cancelled.

The release date of Hot Sauce Committee Part 1, the band’s upcoming studio LP, has likewise been pushed back.

Luckily, the cancer has not metastisized, and, according to Yauch, happens to be a very treatable type. He is scheduled for surgery next week, and expects to be back on his feet in a matter of weeks.
